What began as a simple idea – using music, stories and pictures to teach tennis – has grown into an internationally recognised early-years sports programme trusted by thousands of families worldwide. Our Story
Teddy Tennis Ltd was incorporated in 2002 in England by brothers Richard and Stephen Bean, who developed the concept of teaching tennis through music, characters, and visual cues. After several years of research, programme development and music production, Teddy Tennis officially launched in 2007.
The programme quickly gained attention, including a feature on the BBC’s entrepreneurial show Dragons’ Den, and shortly afterwards began expanding across the UK and internationally.
In 2008, Teddy Tennis began franchising, providing entrepreneurs around the world with an exciting and rewarding opportunity to deliver our unique early-years sports experience in their communities.
As demand grew, so did our offering:
- 2013: Launch of Teddy Connect, our bespoke online teaching, booking, and back-office system.
- 2015-2016: Introduction of Teddy Soccer and Teddy Cricket, expanding our play-based multisport pathway.
- 2024: Launch of Teddy Padel and Teddy Sports World, the umbrella brand uniting all Teddy activity programmes.
Today, Teddy Tennis is taught across multiple countries, helping children everywhere develop confidence, coordination, creativity and a lifelong love of sport.
